THE HEBRIDES  -  HIKING ON THE ISLE OF SKYE

Well after some beautiful hiking on the Isle of Rum it was time to move on. The weather wasn’t just what I wanted to head across to the outer Hebrides so what was I going to do? Well it was simple just take a short run across to the Isle of Skye and have a look at the mountains and check out a new anchorage. I absolutely loved this anchorage views to die for and not just so busy the holding here is great. This video your going to see me smiling from ear to ear loved this adventure. The mountains here are top class I highly recommend this place if hiking is your thing...I also recommend it for an anchorage for the views just stunning. I won’t waffle here as I do enough of that on the videos. THE HEBRIDES - WALK ABOUT PORT RAMSAY THEN OF TO RUM

THE HEBRIDES  -   WALK ABOUT PORT RAMSAY THEN OF TO RUM

Ok I take a look about port Ramsay I just loved the Main Street. I will say the holding in this port Ramsay is top class you will see what I mean as I’m walking the coast. There is two anchorages here so you will get an eyes on. After the weather eased here I made back to Oban yes Oban again to check about the sim and see if it arrived...let’s see how that goes. When I had just got into Oban I seen a boat she wasn’t a huge boat but she was well kitted and the skipper looked like a right old sea dog and that’s just what I thought as you do....as he was leaving his boat swung round and gave me a little drive by and he shouted he loved the videos...it was pretty amazing as this guy was a proper sailor an old salt and I’d just been thinking there is a proper sailor it actually made my day that real men of the sea was enjoying my madness. Anyway when I left Oban it was into a familiar anchorage again before heading on for the isle of Rum now when you see me sailing towards Rum you have to say now that looks just stunning...I can tell you this it was a lot better than last year when me and Dangerous Darren battled round to get into Rum where at the very last about 42kts of wind. Some of these areas will be very familiar to you now these anchorages you see you should now know as well as me... just remember always get an up to date weather report have an idea what’s happening see where the anchorage is open to and anchor according....

THE HEBRIDES - SOLO LOCH A CHOIRE + PORT RAMSAY

THE HEBRIDES - SOLO LOCH A CHOIRE + PORT RAMSAY

After waiting on a SIM card for days spending money in a marina....I had to move out as it was going to be days before this sim arrived to marina for me. I decided to go have a look about at a couple of anchorages around loch Linnhe the first one being at loch a choire. The anchorage here is pretty beautiful it’s a deep anchorage and you can get very close to the shore. The holding here is very very good in thick mud. The surrounding hills offer good walking and you may even spot an eagle. I’m glad I called In here.. After doing some hiking I decided to move on just a short hop tho over to a little anchorage at Port Ramsay on the isle of Lismore. This anchorage is well sheltered and has great holding just be careful on the approach in be aware of the rocks just have a good look at the charts tho the navionics route brings you straight in. These couple of short sails was done under head sail only as I was just killing time and in rush to be anywhere and to be honest there was a fare bit of wind ....... anyway I hope you enjoy this leg of my solo sailing season. I want to make this clear I’m just a guy from the street living adventure I’m not trying to be a movie maker are someone I’m not ...it’s just straight talking me my adventure machine taking you on the voyages and adventures and sharing a little bit of my life ......

THE HEBRIDES - HIKING THE PAPS OF JURA

THE HEBRIDES - HIKING THE PAPS OF JURA

So guys as I was sailing up the sound of Jura the Paps where just so clear and I wasn’t letting the second biggest mountain go...it was on the cards and today was the day. The paps of Jura are two mountains on the inner Hebrides island of Jura. This hike was awesome as the visibility was top class and even rowing ashore to nail this mountain I could of been anywhere in the world it was just beautiful.Last year myself and Darren climb the biggest one it was a wet old day so Take a look back in last years videos for it. This years hike was a great hike apart from I lost my phone which has ended up costing me a fortune as I’d had to enter marinas and wait in new SIM cards it’s even a nightmare.. Few other little things gone wrong to like a bust water bag onboard...I’ve had a couple of small donations of people and I’d just like to say thanks to you guys and there is no need to say sorry for the small about cause every little helps me so thanks again also thanks to all who follow the videos and enjoy seeing the adventures. It would be great to get more people onboard so tell a friend hit subscribe hit the like button are even give it a share...... For anyone that would like to help find the PayPal link on the profile are the go fund me in the links... Anyway have a great week folks and I hope you enjoy the video. THE HEBRIDES - THE RETURN FROM BEN NEVIS

THE HEBRIDES - THE RETURN FROM BEN NEVIS

So here is the last episode with Jason and mark onboard. On this one we return back to my home port we get some really good sailing on the way down not only that but you get to see little half mans nasty side...and well I think big Jason and mark had a wee bromance going on as he didn’t knock mark out...you will see why in the video. The sail back down the guys got on the tiller in some nice wind so basically they had a quick run through a lot of stuff from a bit of navigation to setting sails and boat handling and to be honest they picked up on a lot of stuff fast...but hey what can you say they had a good teacher even tho he is a mouth piece....There is lots of slagging going on but it’s only cause we know each well...and it was jus5 we didn’t give one flying you know what...as this was about 3 guys just away having a laugh. So I will say well done to the lads they picked a lot of stuff fast and done well...I’d also like to say thanks to Jason for stocking me up with some food before he left and to Mark who filled a can full of diesel ... So fair winds lads and until the next time

THE HEBRIDES - ON ROUTE TO BEN NEVIS

THE HEBRIDES  -   ON ROUTE TO BEN NEVIS

Well finally we are underway and heading up to Fort William Scotland for an appointment with Ben Nevis Britain’s highest mountain. Leaving rathlin island behind and heading out to sea was a very exciting time for Mark and Jason as it was the furthest of land they had ever been. Conditions where good the sun was out what more could you want. On the way up the sound of Jura I stared teaching the guys some good skills n the charts from filling out a proper log to plotting positions taking bearings and few other navigation things in between...they where also leading a few other things on the way ..it was giving them a real taste to what’s involved and hopefully something they temper from being onboard. We made it as far as Gallanach bay just across from the Crinan Canal apparently Britain’s most beautiful short cut. The little anchorage has great holding. We sent the night here as we ran out of tide to continue north...but tomorrow is a new day. So leaving the next morning we headed up towards Loch Linnhe passing through the fast flowing water at the sound of Luing ...the guys see the effects of tide and the power in it....pretty amazing. We pushed on that day and made it as far as Ballachulish bay just out from Glenmorven it took me two goes to get anchor to grip and it was wild windy but we got her holding. The reason we stopped here was due to tide again as we couldn’t of passed through the narrow entrance at Corran point to make it on up to Fort William. The next morning the guys were getting excited well so was I....so up with the hook and it was through the narrow channel and up to Fort Willian where we hooked onto one of the well kept visitors moorings for peace of mind when We were climbing the mountain..We had a really nice welcome here from the yacht club and town itself has everything you need... the few delays we had along the way was actually working out well as the conditions were getting better for summiting Nevis.... Hope you all enjoy this video as it’s 3 friends we are all mad as hatters but here we are living life loving life and having an adventure...the humour is a little different to the normal but we know each other well and it’s how we roll.....

THE HEBRIDES - CARRICKFERGUS TO ISLE OF ARRAN

THE HEBRIDES  -   CARRICKFERGUS TO ISLE OF ARRAN

Well it was a decent day so it was time to make are break...yes away from our home shores again. Belfast lough again not a problem well marked but just watch for the shipping lots of fast moving ferries. We head across the North Channel without any drama and aim for loch Ryan and down into Stranraer. It was a great day for it. Loch Ryan is ok stay in the channel watch the ferries again also watch out for a place on the charts known as the Spit up might hit the bottom. The marina in here was ok but I’d say it would get bumpy in the wrong conditions. We didn’t hang about long here we just ran in got food and away early the next morning. We planned to stop at Alsa Craig....so do we stop? The end goal was to the Isle of Arran we anchored in Lamlash before heading round into Brodick bay where we could climb the biggest mount on Arran Goat Fell. Anyway guys hope you enjoy this video ..I’m sure you will get a laugh at a very silly mistake I make .....enjoy

MOURNE MOUNTAINS - BEN CROM - & RESEVOIR

 MOURNE MOUNTAINS - BEN CROM

Ok get the boots on again and let’s keep exploring the ground from Carrick little car park into the great kingdom of Mourne. Now keep in mind the last 4 latest mountain videos is giving you a great understanding of the ground in this area up past Annalong wood and in around the valley and surrounding mountains this gives a beginning a great start and look at the area before even setting foot on it.. So this episode I have a guy with me this isn’t really his normal thing and had no experience in this kind of stuff but he is up anyway. We head up to a small saddle between Slievelamagan and the route up to Slieve Binnian were we get a nice eyes on the beautiful Ben Crom reservoir. Now keep in mind were you have been with me on the last videos ..you are now on the opposite side of Slievelamagan and opening up the scope. So wee head down to the reservoir and move up to the camp at the very end of it. The ground here is a perfect pitch .. and you always sure to get a pitch plenty of room. We got set up then pushed a little deeper and headed to the good old slieve Bearnagh this can be a hard old climb but well worth it on a good day...tho you won’t see much in this video. When we descend Bearneagh we head down into Hares Gap then across some open ground to get into a beautiful big crack in the ground and follow the river back down to the camp. It was a beautiful walk down her. When we get back we get a quick bite to eat then it was time for some cold water fun. So remember in these series of videos I’m bringing you from Carrick little carpark all the time and I’m expanding the area so you build a picture and get familiar with the area ... I think personally it is a great eyes on and could help a beginner starting out here. Anyway I hope you enjoy the videos and have a great Sunday.....
